<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Cherie: Just want to let you know that the Queen Mary was used as a Troopship during WW2 and had a collison with a Naval Vessel on convoy duty causing many deaths....

Also a Chef aboard the QM was beaten up during a voyage and shoved into one of the ovens thus causing his death...

Plus the fact her first Skipper died a few months aboard ship after she was launched and christened...

So whatever you and Jake experienced aboard her was probably the troubled spirits from the above matters...

This isn't a creepy story as such, and I have to say that as much as I'm a Halloween and horror story fan, I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to the supernatural. However, I'd like to share this with you.

My grandad spent the last year of his life in bed as a result of emphysema due to years working in a steelworks. He'd always been an outgoing sort of person and hated what his life had become.

As the end drew near our house took on that horrible atmosphere and silence that accompanies the imminent death of a loved one. One day, however, as I approached his room I heard him talking away in a loud and cheerful voice. I listened for a moment outside, confused, but couldn't make any sense of what he was saying. It sounded as though he was talking to someone, but when I entered the room there was no one else there. Hesitantly, I said that I thought I'd heard him talking to someone. He looked up at me, chuckling and said that perhaps he'd gone mad. Why? I asked. Because, he explained, on one of the chairs in his room sat his brother (who'd been killed by a hit-and-run driver when he was still a young man), and on the other was a lady dressed in black with a young boy standing beside her. My grandad had been talking to his brother, but the lady and boy said nothing; they just looked on, smiling, and they gave my grandad a great feeling of peace. When I asked if they were still there, he said, 'Oh yes'.

When I left the room, the conversation continued. Grandad died a couple of days later, but remained cheerful to the end.

    More Input....

Case in point, One of my Co-Worker's Arlene told me she moved into an apartment with her daughter in Pennsylvania after her divorce with her 3 cats. The cats refused to roam about and stood transfixed at one point and were craning their next back & forth as if they were watching something unseen.

Arlene's daughter complained of chills and a sense of dread in certain points of the apartment. After they moved into another home, the cats roamed about and there were no more problems. angry

In Westfield, NJ the home of John List, the man who murdered his entire family in December 1971, was reportedly a troubled place. The previous owners were a WW2 Veteran and his wife.

One day the man found his wife dead and he killed himself afterwards. After the List murders, people reported seeing lights on in the home and various dead family members appearing at the windows despite the fact the home was vacant. It grew too much and the home was condemed and a new one built upon the foundations...

I also understand Stevie Nicks once stated she felt the presence of her late friend Robin Anderson several times after her tragic passing from cancer in the 80's.

Stevie also stated she witnessed the rocker containing Robin's young son being moved back & forth as if by an unseen hand.

Also a friendly note to Cherie and Company...

    Check out FATE MAGAZINE

I've been reading this mag since 1975 and have enjoyed every issue.....

I was pretty bummed out when they switched to the full length version but became happier when they went back to the digest version...

    I prefer the Fortean Times.

They take the weirdness seriously, but are smart enough to realize how Mainstram looks at them. ie. still able to laugh at themselves.

Another eerie thing happened to me while growing up in Chicago...

When I was either 9 or 10, My Cousins took me for a little stroll on the Waterfront right by the Clark Street Bridge....

All of the sudden as we were passing by a certain spot I started to get these odd chills and a feeling of dread.

My one Cousin Tony wanted to take a picture of me standing by the spot but I refused and raised up a storm because I had this unspeakable feeling of falling in and drowning...

Needless to say Tony thought I was being a crybaby and cut short our walk...

Later on when I was much older I found out exactly why I was so uncomfortable in that particular spot...

On July 24, 1915, The Excursion Steamer EASTLAND pulled away from that spot and then for some unexplainable reason started to list and then rolled over on its side...

Approximately 844 people on a Picnic Trip for Western Electric Workers were drowned...It was one of Chicago's worst tragedy since the 1871 Fire...

Also of note, the bodies were taken to a warehouse that served as a makeshift morgue...

Many years later a up and coming talk show host named Oprah Winfrey would use it as her TV Studio. Many of her production crew as well as Oprah complained of rampant chills and feelings of gloom during certain times while working there...

Here's more about the EASTLAND tragedy...

...figure that I'd feel rampant chills and feelings of gloom if I was working on her show too. Any ghosts that might appear would be a happy distraction from the job.

Cherie & Co: According to FATE MAGAZINE, there is a Ghost Conference Scheduled for November of 2006 aboard the Queen Mary...I'll try to get more details...
